Assistant to the Directors
Mbovu trained as an actor, director, technician and designer with Market Theatre Laboratory in 2007 and 2008 and performed with them as a dancer and actor.
Upon relocating to Cape Town in 2009, Mbovu was accepted as a trainee on the Jazzart Training Program, where he honed his performance skills as a dancer.
In 2011 Mbovu was the winner of the Fundamental Training Centre Best Student for Development Practice (SAQA). He continued his training in 2012 as an Outreach coordinator.
Free-lance work included work with:
- Renowned artist, Willem Kentridge on ‘The Nose’
- Mncedisi Shabangu on schools productions
- International theatre & Literacy Project as dance facilitator and coordinator
- Dancer and lighting designer for Ubunye and Wrong Station by Mzo Gasa
Mbovu was part of the creative team; and continued to perform ‘Coal Yard’ for Ohentse Bodibe. He has choreographed dance pieces for communities of the Free-State and the Western Cape.
His positions included: Assistant Arts Coordinator at SAEP 2013 (South African Environment and Education Project), dance teacher for the WCED MOD programme; Arts Coordinator for iThemba Labantu Lutheran Community Centre 2014; Advisory board member for Darkroom Contemporary Physical Theatre and the Sibonelo Dance Project.
Mbovu continues to teach dance and drama using his skills as an artist to develop the youth and adults in the under resourced communities. He is the provincial liaison officer for the Community Arts Centres Federation of the Western Cape and an Assistant to the Directors of Indoni Dance Academy.
Based in London, South African born artist, designer and wellbeing coach, Helen Allen, has been an integral part of the Indoni team since its start in 2014. Her role includes: producing proposals and manifestos; design & production for marketing & promotional materials; web design & management; social media marketing; & video production/editing.
With a career in graphic design spanning 40 years of working for corporate clients in the UK, Helen also has more than 15 years experience designing, writing and editing bids and proposals. She is Marketing Director of Lahara Ltd., a UK-based consultancy that specialises in bid training and bid services.
Although Helen moved to London in the late seventies, she left a big part of her heart in South Africa, with a yearning to help and support those leading disadvantaged lives.

In 2004 Helen founded a personal development platform, Energising Your Life, using a creative approach to healing and transformation. Her workshops have brought deep guidance and support for participants in UK, Russia, Greece, South Africa, Israel & Jersey Isles.
As a certified Nia fitness instructor (Brown Belt level) and Nia Five Stages teacher, she taught in London from 2007-2016, and also in Cape Town, Israel, Jersey Isles – and in New York, as part of a Hayhouse 5-day seminar. From 2004-2013 Helen worked on the seminar team of psychologist and author, Dr Robert Holden, whose seminars on happiness have been featured on Oprah.
